The Working Group (WG) on Obligations of judges, parties and lawyers met for its fifth meeting at the Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik (IUC) to discuss the draft explanatory comments to the rules which are being developed and provisionally adopted. The meeting was attended by the Working Group’s co-reporters, Professor Remco van Rhee, and Professor Alan Uzelac, and by some other members of the WG, Professor Walter Rechberger, Professor Magne Strandberg, and Professor Bartosz Karolczyk. While the remaining WG members, Professor John Sorabji, Professor Elisabetta Silvestri, and Professor Emmanuel Jeuland, submitted their written input.
After a thorough discussion, the WG reviewed and adopted the comments to Section V of the draft rules of civil procedure (“Obligations related to settlement attempts and ADR”), and decided to use them as sample for the other explanatory comments. Their adoption will be the subject of the next meeting of the WG that will take place in Pavia in September 2016.
During the two-day event in Dubrovnik, the participants of the meeting also presented the work of their group and the ELI-UNIDROIT project to the participants of the XI Public and Private Justice International course and conference taking place at the IUC.
