Further Interest from China on ELI’s E-Evidence Proposal

A Chinese delegation visited the ELI Secretariat in Vienna on 2 November 2023 to learn more about ELI and its Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and the Council on Mutual Admissibility of Evidence and Electronic Evidence in Criminal Proceedings.

ELI’s Secretary General, Vanessa Wilcox, welcomed the delegation composed of Jin Yan (Vice-President, Heilongjiang Provincial Higher People’s Court), Zhang Guobin (Senior Judge, Haerbin Railway Transportation Intermediate Court), Han Riqiang (Senior Judge, Mudanjiang Intermediate People’s Court), Jin Zhaochi (Captain In Chief, Judicial Police Corps, Heilongjiang Provincial Higher People’s Court), Ma Xiaorui (Senior Judge, Adjudication Tribunal For Environment And Resources, Heilongjiang Provincial Higher People’s Court) and Zhu Baiduo (Senior Judge, Criminal Adjudication Tribunal No 1, Heilongjiang Provincial Higher People’s Court).

ELI Council member and a Project Reporter, Prof Dr Lorena Bachmaier Winter, gave a presentation on ELI’s draft legislative proposal on common standards for the admissibility of cross-border evidence, including electronic evidence, in criminal matters between Member States. Zuzana Fačková, ELI Senior Finance and Membership Officer, informed those present about ELI, its members, projects and other activities.
