Laura Guercio is a lawyer at a firm in Genoa and Rome and has experience in other jurisdictions such as Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Guercio completed her Doctoral studies in Political Science with co-supervisors at the University of Genoa and Trinity College Dublin on the topic of 'Women's Rights in the Constitutional Reforms in the MENA Area after the Arab Spring'.

She also has a Master's in ‘National, European and International Jurisdictions’ from SIOI - University of Rome Tor Vergata - Universiy of Camerino. Currently she is a Professor at the University of Perugia and Secretary General of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Human Rights at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, she is an Italian Agent at the Management Board of the European Fundamental Rights Agency and an assistant lawyer at the International Criminal Court. Since 2010, she has been a Senior Researcher in EU and international projects in the MENA area with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
