Interns – Law and PR (Paid)

The ELI offers paid as well as unpaid internships.

A paid internship at the ELI Secretariat in Vienna is available from May/June to September/October each year (but for a maximum period of 4 months).

An internship at the Secretariat of the European Law Institute (ELI) is the perfect opportunity for a candidate with a completed law degree or a student in the final stages of his/her legal studies (or a closely related field) to gain insight into the management of an international organisation which works towards the improvement of law-making across Europe. Please note that the tasks are heavily administrative.

Interns will have the opportunity to work with staff at the Secretariat on a number of tasks, including the organisation and running of the Annual Conference and Meetings which takes place in September in Vienna (Austria) or abroad. The Conference brings together around 400 participants and will be attended by renowned legal experts from Europe and beyond.

  • Involvement in preparation and post-production of the 2020 Annual Conference and Meetings (eg liaising with speakers, PR activities, writing reports, compiling conference materials, drafting invitations)
  • Involvement in preparation of various smaller Conferences
  • Assisting Project Officers in the administrative coordination of ongoing ELI projects
  • Assisting the Secretariat in providing administrative support to ELI Special Interest Groups
  • Helping produce the regular Newsletter
  • Contributing to the administration of the ELI website and social media sites (eg Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)

We Are Looking For

  • A law graduate or a student of law (or a closely-related field) in the final stages of studies
  • Excellent knowledge of English (other languages will be an asset)
  • Enthusiasm, reliability and an ability to work independently
  • Excellent computer skills (knowledge of specialised programmes such as InDesign or Photoshop will be an asset)
