Miguel Gimeno Ribes is Associate Professor of Business Law [Profesor Titular] at the University of Valencia. After a four-year period as a Graduate Research Assistant while writing his doctoral dissertation, he joined the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance (Munich) as a Senior Research Fellow. In 2016, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Business Law at the University of Valencia and later became Associate Professor. He has also been an External Lecturer at the Bucerius Law School (Hamburg).

He has conducted research abroad, notably at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and at Harvard Law School. His fields of research range from corporate governance to corporate finance, commercial contracts, M&A, and financial regulation. In those fields of research, he has written three monographs on company acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and director compensation as well as several articles and contributions in collective volumes. He regularly gives presentations on those topics at national and international conferences. He has been the leading researcher of three third-party funded projects in the field of company law, regarding shareholders’ rights, shareholder activism, and company-related climate change issues.

Since 2019, he has been serving as an ELI Council Member.
