Nikos Chatzinikolaou was born and raised in the island of Kos, Greece. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he successfully obtained his PhD. He has practiced as a specialist in white collar crimes since 1999, and he is a member of Bar Association of Thessaloniki. He completed his master and doctoral degree as a scholar of the Greek State of Scholarships Foundation in the discipline of substantive criminal law and criminal procedural law. As a criminal defence lawyer he continued being a post-doctoral scholar of the same institution as well as at the Research Committee of Aristotle University. Tutoring and participating in several research projects were some of his main duties while collaborating with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the National School of Judges, the Balkan Institute of Public Administration, the Bar Association of Thessaloniki, etc.

He is a member of the ELI, of the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association and of other scientific and professional unions.
