Yannis V Avgerinos is a Teaching Fellow at the European Law & Governance School (ELGS).


He studied at the universities of Athens, Warwick, King’s College London and Harvard. He holds an LLM in International Economic Law and a PhD in European Financial Law.


He has been lecturer at the International Studies Unit of the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace, Visiting Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and a Fellow at the British Institute of International & Comparative Law (BIICL). He published Regulating and Supervising Investment Services in the European Union (Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan, 2003), Financial Markets in Europe: Towards a Single Regulator (London-Hague: Kluwer Law International, 2003), EC Financial Regulation (Athens: Ant Ν Sakkoulas, 2004), and Introduction to EU Competition Law (Athens: Nomiki Vivliothiki, 2011), as well as many articles in Greek and English-language journals.


Avgerinos has served as a member of the Hellenic Competition Commission and has worked for the British Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the European Commission. He is a lawyer at the Greek Supreme Court, member of the Athens Bar, and managing partner of Avgerinos & Partners Law Firm (AVGLaw).
