Job announcement – PR Officer

A full-time PR Officer is sought at the Secretariat of the European Law Institute (ELI). We are looking for a committed and creative addition to our young and dynamic team. This person will be responsible, alongside the Secretary General, for the further development of the ELI’s PR strategy. He/she will also be in charge of the ELI’s Newsletter and website and of any other PR related tasks. We are offering flexible working hours as well as an international and creative working environment. The post is available immediately and the contract is for a period of 12 months with an option to extend.



  • Alongside the Secretary General, the PR Officer will be in charge of developing the ELI’s PR and communication strategy
  • The Officer in question will explore new communication channels to enhance the impact of dissemination of ELI activities and projects results
  • He/she will also ensure that the ELI Newsletter and website, essential aspects of the ELI’s PR strategy, continue evolving and bringing the most up-to-date news to all ELI members and externals
  • The position carries a great deal of individual responsibility and requires the ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • It also requires great levels of innovation and creativity and a profound understanding of the aims and spirit of the organisation
  • The PR Officer will also assist the team in the preparation of reports for ELI bodies and in the organisation of meetings and events, such as the ELI’s Annual Conference and Meetings

Minimum Requirements

  • The candidate must (at least) have graduated from high school
  • Must be conversant in English and German. Knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage
  • Experience in project coordination and event management would be an asset as is work experience at international organisations
  • A background in journalism and/or PR is of advantage

Please note the salary scheme of the University of Vienna (§54 VwGr IIIa) applies. The duration of employment is one year with the possibility to extend, depending on the candidate’s performance.
