ELI Environmental Law SIG Held a First Seminar in its 2022 Seminar Series

On 17 February 2022, the ELI Environmental Law SIG Held an Online Seminar on ‘Sustainable, Transparent and Responsible Supply Chains for Environmentally Sensitive Products: EU Legislation Setting New Obligations and Rights for Economic Operators and Citizens.’

The seminar was opened by Hugo-Maria Schally (European Commission, DG Environment, Head of Unit on Multilateral Environmental Cooperation) who gave a presentation on the ‘Proposal for a Regulation on the Making Available on the Union Market as well as Export from the Union of Certain Commodities and Products Associated with Deforestation and Forest Degradation and Repealing Regulation (EU) No 995/201.’ The slides from the lecture are available here.

This was followed by a lively Q&A discussion. William Boyd (University of California) and Alberto de Franceschi (University of Ferrara), Chairs of the SIG, joined as discussants.
