ELI High Level Forum on Automated Contracting

05.12.2025

On 5 December 2025, ELI convened a High Level Forum to discuss its DACC Model Rules and prospective project on Model Contractual Terms.

The forum brought together representatives of mi ministries of justice, judges, practitioners, notaries, academics, and experts in the field to discuss on automated contracting, an area that cuts across a broad spectrum of legal and policy fields, including contract and consumer law, regulatory design, technological innovation, and market practice, while discussing the recently approved ELI Guiding Principles and Model Rules on Digital Assistants for Consumer Contracts (2025) (ELI DACC Model Rules).

The ELI DACC Model Rules are available here.

The event was opened by Sir Geoffrey Vos (Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales; ELI Vice-President) and featured the keynote by Dirk Staudenmayer (Head of Unit Contract Law, European Commission, DG JUST). ELI DACC Model Rules were presented by Christoph Busch (ELI Project Co-Reporter; Professor, University of Osnabrück), and the prospective project ELI Model Contractual Terms on Automated Contracting and Digital Assistants in Business and Consumer Transactions (B2C and B2B), in collaboration with UNCITRAL, was presented by Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell (ELI President; ELI Project Co-Reporter; Professor, University Carlos III of Madrid).

ELI would like to express its sincere gratitude to the chair, keynote speaker, the Co-Reporters, and all participants for their valuable contributions and thoughtful engagement.
