Revised ELI’s Statue

14.07.2022

In accordance with Article 10(5) of the ELI Statute, the ELI Council approved a number of amendments to the ELI Statute at its meeting of 24–25 February 2022. Those changes have now been implemented and officially registered by ELI’s notary.

The revisions were based on advice given by ELI’s bookkeeping firm Deloitte Austria, following an assessment of ELI’s charitable and tax status in 2021.

The main changes can be summarised as follows:

  • Article 3(3) was deleted and its contents now form a part of newly inserted Article 4, which elaborates on ELI’s sources of funding.
  • The amendment to Article 5 (now Article 6) is mandated by the new Belgian Code on Companies and Associations, which requires the language region of the Association’s seat to be indicated.
  • The amendments to Article 18 (now Article 19) aim at clarifying in more detail how assets will be applied in the event of the dissolution of the Association. They also now address the question of how assets are to be applied in the event of a change of activities.
