Spanish Hub Announced as ELI Hub of the Year

09.09.2020

The Award was presented in the evening of 9 September as part of the 2020 Online Annual Conference. The Award Ceremony also saw the announcement of the ELI Young Lawyers Award and Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Year Award.

Hubs exist in several European countries as local chapters of the ELI. They enable ELI members to meet closer to home and hold events in the local language. The Spanish Hub, chaired by Carmen Jerez Delgado (Professor of Civil Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and Albert Ruda (Associate Professor and Dean at the University of Girona), was established in May 2016 and has shown consistent activity ever since.

In 2020 its Annual Meeting (held this year online) focused on European Case Law and attracted over 400 attendees who participated in webinars, paper presentations and listened to keynote speeches by Mr Joaquin Huelin (former judge of the Spanish Supreme Court and currently a lawyer and partner at Cuatrecasas), Prof Dr Juan Damian (Full Professor of civil procedural law and Dean of the Law School of the Autonomous University of Madrid), and Dr Alfonso Egea (Assistant Professor at the same university).

Congratulations and thanks to Carmen Jerez Delgado and Albert Ruda and all the members of the Spanish Hub!
