Succession Law Subgroup Held its Third Webinar in its 2022 Seminar Series

On Tuesday, 26 April 2022, the third in a series of webinars on ‘The Application of the EU Succession Regulation in the Member States’ organised by the Subgroup of the ELI Family and Succession Law SIG took place.

Panellists from the Czech Republic (Magdalena Pfeiffer), Germany (Lena Kunz), Lithuania (Katažyna Bogdzevič), Poland (Anna Wysocka-Bar) and Romania (Daniel Berlingher) shared information on the application of the EU Succession Regulation in their Member States, focusing on issues of jurisdiction, applicable law and the national implementation and the European Certificate of Succession. In particular, the focus was on the issue of the relationship between the EU Succession Regulation and bilateral treaties, the competences of notaries, the question of habitual residence and the entry of specific estate items in the European Certificate of Succession. The webinar highlighted the different and common difficulties in the practical application of the EU Succession Regulation in Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and Romania.
