Work on the ELI Feasibility Study on AI and Public Administration Advances

28.04.2020

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Public Administration – Developing Impact Assessments and Public Participation for Digital Democracy Team met again (remotely) on 28 April 2020.

The Team discussed different models of impact assessments, such as the data protection impact assessment under the General Data Protection Regulation and the environmental impact assessment under Directive 2011/92/EU, as well as how these could be considered when developing model rules on impact assessment in respect of artificial intelligence tools used by public administrations.

The Team submitted its project proposal and feasibility study to the ELI Council earlier this month. The Council is currently voting on whether the study should advance to a fully-fledged ELI project.
