Austrian Hub Monday Seminar Series: The Corporate Restructuring Machine

17.03.2025

The Seminar took place on 17 March 2025 (18:30 CET) at the University of Innsbruck and online.

The Institute for Corporate and Tax Law at the University of Innsbruck hosted the 181st event in the series ‘Current Issues in Business Law.’

Prof Dr Horst Eidenmüller (University of Oxford) delivered a lecture titled ‘Introducing the Corporate Restructuring Machine: An Open Platform Approach,’ exploring how AI could enhance corporate restructuring processes. Eidenmüller introduced the idea of the Corporate Restructuring Machine (CRM), a digital platform equipped with AI tools designed to support and automate out-of-court restructuring efforts. By implementing such AI-based analyses, it was analysed how these corporate restructurings could be made faster, more transparent and more cost-efficient. Consequently, stakeholders, particularly creditors and shareholders, are able to leverage these tools to make better-informed decisions that are more in line with their interests through more efficient negotiation processes. By integrating AI-driven analytics, he argued, companies facing financial distress could access tailored restructuring solutions with greater precision and speed.

The subsequent discussion addressed the practical feasibility of AI-driven restructuring solutions and their potential effects on the field. Co-Organised by Univ -Prof Dr Susanne Augenhofer, LLM (Yale) (Co-Chair of the ELI Austrian Hub), the event once again provided a valuable opportunity for professional dialogue.
