Given the impact that the rapid development of digital technologies has on all existing legal provisions, the question of liability was examined from two angles: liability in the case of an accident with self-driving vehicles and liability of a Data Protection Officer as a key person under Art 37 of the General Data Protection Regulation which enters into force on 25 May 2018. Among the panellists was ELI Vice-President Sjef van Erp, who gave a presentation on ELI. The event attracted many experts in this field. It inspired lively debate on these topical questions.
