The judge's role has become increasingly complex due to the need to harmonize national law with the legal systems of the European Union and the Council of Europe. This challenge is compounded by the existence of supreme judicial bodies within these European systems, whose case law sets the standards judges must follow. To assist judges, the Italian School of the Judiciary has published three accessible books on European law and the national judge's role. This seminar will present these works and explore how European law impacts various legal systems, with input from national judges and academics across the EU.
