2023 ELI Annual Conference: Upcoming Portuguese Hub Meeting

Within the framework of the 2023 ELI Annual Conference, the Upcoming ELI Portuguese Hub held a meeting on the establishment of the Hub. The meeting took place on 8 September 2023.

  • Introduction to the ELI Portuguese Hub: aim and motivations.
  • Presentation of the topic for the academic year 2023/24, Multi-level Governance of Sustainability, and of the plan of activities.

Speakers:

Prof Dr Graça Enes has been the Director of CIJ at the University of Porto since 2021. Formerly Vice-Dean of Law (2013-2014) and Master’s Law Studies Director (2019-2020), she's an accomplished author in European and International Law. Prof Enes focuses on digital challenges, European policies, data governance, AI, and international governance. She was awarded for coordinating the Jean Monnet Module DigEUCit,  and holds a PhD in EU Law. Prof Enes is a tenured Professor of EU and International Law at the University of Porto, with research extending to a Digital Europe for Citizens and international governance challenges.

Dr Marta Santos Silva is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Centre for Justice and Governance at Minho University in Portugal and an affiliated member of the Maastricht European Private Law Institute and the Centre of European Law and Politics in Bremen. She has received several research grants and recognitions throughout her career. She has been working on academic and policy pan-European research projects for harmonising European Private Law since 2005. She has recently coordinated a large, edited volume on the impact of Coronavirus on the Law in Europe (published with Intersentia) and lead-edited a book on Private Law and Sustainability (under contract with Routledge). She also has professional experience working as a legal consultant in Brussels. Dr Santos Silva is an active member of the ELI and is  currently serving as an elected member of the ELI Council.
