ELI SIGs Co-Hosted Company Law and Corporate Governance Conference

The 6th International Conference on European Company Law and Corporate Governance was held online on 28–29 November 2024.

The Department of Business Law at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics & Business organised the Conference with support of the ELI Business and Financial Law SIG, ELI Croatian Hub, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Croatia, and the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

The general theme of the Conference was ‘New Era in Corporate Governance: Sustainability at Crossroads’. The keynote speakers were Professor Antigoni Alexandropoulou (European University Cyprus) on ‘Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence’ and Professor Alessio Bartolacelli (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia) on ‘Is There a Role for Corporate Finance for a More Comprehensive Corporate Governance?’.

The Conference gathered more than ninety participants from Croatia, Cyprus, Italy, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It covered current topics in EU company law, with a particular focus on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, which entered into force on 25 July 2024.
