The Conference began with an introduction to Directive (EU) 2020/1828 by Susanne Augenhofer (Professor, University of Innsbruck and one of the ELI Austrian Hub´s Chairs).
Judith Resnik (Professor, Yale Law School) gave a keynote address on the ‘The Need for and the Challenges of Collective Redress’, in which she provided participants with exciting and informative insights on practice of third-party litigation funding in the USA.
Astrid Stadler (Professor, University of Konstanz) took a closer look at how Directive (EU) 2020/1828 addresses the issue in detail and Wolf H von Bernuth (Attorney, Hausfeld) and Alexander Klauser (Attorney, BKP) provided insightful contributions from practice, presenting the practical handling of third-party litigation funding from the perspectives of German and Austrian law respectively.
The Conference ended with a lively discussion, in which new solutions and approaches to third-party litigation funding in Europe were discussed with the participants.
