During the webinar, John Erik Setaas (Signicat) and Bart Symons (Zetes) explored situations in which trust service providers are needed as well as considered their exposure to liability. They pointed out the need to verify identity online and discussed procedures that are being set up in Europe to that end. Pieter Wolters (Radboud Universiteit) examined the need to better identify business users on digital platforms on a case study of the proposed Digital Services Act. Such identification could support the reduction of online fraud and abusive behaviours on digital platforms.
