The conference was divided into three parts: the first focused on topics of particular relevance both on a European level and nationally including sustainability, board structure, insider trading and related party transactions and their regulation. The second part focused on directors’ duties from a comparative perspective, covering Austria, Germany, France, and a law and economics perspective on these duties in the event of a crisis. The conference also dealt with the current and recent company law reforms at national level, with the example of Belgium and the current project in Austria occupying centre stage. The lively comparative exchanges between speakers and the audience included junior and senior academics as well as practitioners from all branches of the legal profession in line with the tradition of the ELI.
