The meeting took place on 13 April 2023 and was organised on behalf of the co-rapporteurs Mr Pascal Arimont (Committee on Legal Affairs - JURI) and Mr Vlad-Marius Botoș (Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection - IMCO) by the Secretariats of both Committees.
Among the matters discussed were ‘scope and definitions’ and ‘liability cascade and burden of proof’.
ELI has contributed to discussions on the reform of the product liability directive. In addition to its Draft of a Revised Product Liability Directive published in June 2022, ELI provided Feedback on the European Commission’s Proposal for a Revised Product Liability Directive. ELI also held four webinars on the topic, in February 2021, January and August 2022 and in February 2023, recordings of which are available here.
Among its previous contributions to this field are ELI Guiding Principles for Updating the EU Product Liability Directive for the Digital Age and ELI Response to the European Commission's Public Consultation on Civil Liability.
