ELI Croatian Hub Held the 18th Webinar in its Webinar Series

17.10.2022

On 17 October 2022, the ELI Croatian Hub held its 18th webinar in a series of webinars organised to contribute to discussions on current ELI projects and recent developments in Croatian, comparative, and EU law.

The webinar gathered 120 participants from Croatia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

The webinar commenced with a welcome address from Professor Emilia Mišćenić (ELI Croatian Hub Co-Chair; Associate Professor at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Law) and was followed by a lecture on ‘A Delicate Balance of Human Rights in the CJEU Case Law’, delivered by Dr Marko Ilešič (Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union).

The lecture discussed the challenges of balancing human rights in the case law of the Court of Justice. It was focused in particular on the ‘right to be forgotten’, the landmark case of Google Spain (C-131/12, ECLI:EU:C:2014:317) and its contribution to the later development of EU law, the right to property guaranteed under Article 17 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and the recent judgement in Case C-401/19, Republic of Poland v European Parliament and the Council of the European Union (ECLI:EU:C:2022:297).

The lecture was followed by a lively Q&A session.

The agenda of the webinar is available here.

The next ELI Croatian Hub webinar will be held on 15 November 2022.
