ELI Croatian Hub Held the 25th Webinar in its Webinar Series

16.05.2023

On 16 May 2023, the ELI Croatian Hub held its 25th webinar in a series of webinars organised to contribute to discussions on current ELI projects and recent developments in Croatian, comparative and EU law.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address from Professor Emilia Mišćenić (ELI Croatian Hub Co-Chair; Associate Professor at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Law). This was followed by an insightful lecture titled 'From an Innovation Paper to a Directive - Modernising Product Liability for the Digital Age', delivered by Professor Christian Twigg-Flesner (University of Warwick – School of Law).

During his presentation, Professor Twigg-Flesner provided an overview of the key points outlined in his paper entitled 'Guiding Principles for Updating the EU Product Liability Directive for the Digital Age'. This publication, which served as the inaugural ELI Innovation Paper, was published in January 2021 and can be accessed here. The lecture primarily focused on the Proposal for a directive on liability for defective products, COM(2022) 495 final.

Following the lecture, an engaging Q&A session ensued, allowing participants to actively contribute to the discussion. The webinar gathered participants from a diverse range of countries including Croatia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kosovo, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam, proving to be a truly international affair.

Mark your calendars for the next ELI Croatian Hub webinar, scheduled to take place on 13 June 2023.
