Vulnerability is a concept in legal discourse, but its application to digital technologies is unclear. The 'Digital Vulnerability in European Private Law' (DiVE) project aims at filling this gap. From June 2022 to May 2025, DiVE will explore how digital technologies impact vulnerability and it will seek to understand how the law can address unequal experiences. It focuses on identifying disruptive effects and assessing when the notion of digital vulnerability warrants special legal protection. Three international conferences will be held as part of the project: the first to explore the boundaries of digital vulnerability, the second on its impact on access, identity, and health, and the third on contractual and tortious remedies. The inaugural conference analyses the legal status of digital vulnerability and its connection to general vulnerability, examining how technology exacerbates inequality.
