The international conference AI Agents and Automated Contracting: New Frontiers for Private Law was successfully held from 26–27 May 2025 at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). The event was jointly organised by the Co-Directors of the Research Chair on AI: Foundations and Frontiers, Prof Dr Jorge Feliu Rey and Prof Dr Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell (the latter being the ELI President-Elect and ELI Project Co-Reporter of the ELI Guiding Principles and Model Rules on Digital Assistants for Consumer Contracts and of the ELI Principles and Guidance for Enforcement Against Digital Assets), in collaboration with Microsoft-UC3M, the Research Project on Personalized Insurance UC3M, and the European Law Institute (ELI).
The conference brought together leading experts on the topic, including the organisers, the ELI President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz; ELI Scientific Director, Prof Dr Christiane Wendehorst; ELI Project Co-Reporters of the ELI Guiding Principles and Model Rules on Digital Assistants for Consumer Contracts, Prof Dr Christian Twigg-Flesner and Prof Dr Christoph Busch; and ELI Council Members, Prof Dr Ulrich Schroeter, and Prof Dr André Janssen. On the occasion, ELI’s recently published Guiding Principles and Model Rules on Digital Assistants for Consumer Contracts, took center stage.
