The International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ) was one of ELI’s Founding Institutional Members. ELI was therefore pleased to be invited to join the UIHJ as a Permanent Observer and to have been approved by its Board earlier this year and by its Members at the Permanent Council that took place from 23–24 November 2023. The collaboration alliance between ELI, led by ELI President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz, and UIHJ, headed by President Marc Schmitz, was formalised at the iconic Espace Niemeyer, a historically and culturally significant monument in Paris.

Commenting on this partnership, ELI President stated that 'as a Permanent Observer, ELI stands ready to enhance our already fruitful co-operation with the UIHJ that has already seen us partner on important initiatives'.
