ELI President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz, met with Prof Dr Sebastian Schütze, Rector of the University of Vienna. Joining the meeting from the ELI side was also First ELI Vice-President Elect, Sir Geoffrey Vos (Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales), Treasurer-Elect, Anne Birgitte Gammeljord, ELI Scientific Director, Prof Dr Christiane Wendehorst, and ELI’s Secretary General, Dr Vanessa Wilcox.

The discussions focused on introducing the newly elected ELI Presidency to the Rector and updating him on ELI’s progress over recent years. ELI and the University of Vienna, which funds ELI’s Secretariat, have a longstanding cooperation agreement in place, running until 2027.

ELI extends its sincere gratitude to Prof Schütze for accepting the invitation to speak at ELI’s 2025 Annual Conference, which will be held at the University of Vienna from 22–24 September 2025.
