The Council on General Affairs and Policy (CGAP) of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) took place in the Hague from 5–8 March 2024. ELI was represented by its President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz.

The meeting served as an occasion to discuss the HCCH’s work on potential and ongoing legislative instruments. Specifically, attention was given to the HCCH-UNIDROIT Digital Assets and Tokens project that ELI Executive Committee member Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell participated in. ELI is actively engaged on this topic through its Principles on the Use of Digital Assets as Security (2022). Its Access to Digital Assets and Model Rules on Succession of Digital Assets, Data and other Digital Remains projects also deal with the theme.

Among other things, participants also delved into the practical implementation of the 2000 Protection of Adults Hague Convention. This subject was addressed in ELI's 2020 Report on the Protection of Adults in International Situations and its 2022 Response to the European Commission's Public Consultation on the Initiative on the Cross-Border Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
