The European Law Institute (ELI), represented by its President, Prof Dr Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell, met with the American Law Institute (ALI) during the ALI Annual Meeting, held from 18–20 May 2026, providing an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two prominent institutions.

During the meeting, the ELI President delivered a presentation entitled “ELI in the World”, which highlighted the Institute’s growing international engagement, its collaboration with partner organisations, and its contribution to legal development beyond Europe.

The conference brought together members and representatives of both institutes and offered a valuable forum for discussing current projects, exchanging perspectives, and showcasing ongoing initiatives. The discussions highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing emerging legal challenges and fostering dialogue across jurisdictions.

The event reaffirmed the close ties between the ELI and the ALI and underscored their shared commitment to advancing the development of law and strengthening international legal cooperation.
