On 15–17 May 2024, the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), an ELI member, hosted its Plenary Session in Lausanne, Switzerland. On the occasion, ELI President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz, delivered a speech to those present at the invitation of CCBE President, Me Pierre-Dominique Schupp, 1st Swiss attorney to preside the CCBE since its foundation in 1966.

President Pichonnaz highlighted the longstanding and mutually beneficial cooperation between ELI and the CCBE and the need for both organisations to continue to exploit synergies for the benefit of legal professionals in European and society more generally, in particular as the main area of interests and projects are shared by both entities.
