07.05.2026

The event took place from 6–8 May 2026.

ELI President, Prof Dr Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell, participated as a speaker at the opening ceremony of the World Law Congress held in Tirana, Albania. The event brought together distinguished representatives of the global legal community, including judges, academics, practitioners, and institutional leaders committed to the promotion of the rule of law worldwide.

The participation of the ELI President at the opening ceremony reflects the Institute’s growing engagement with international legal networks and its commitment to fostering dialogue on the major challenges facing democratic societies and legal systems today.

ELI has actively contributed to previous editions of the World Law Congress, including the 2023 Congress in New York (more here) and the 2025 Congress in Santo Domingo (more here), where ELI organised and participated in panels featuring distinguished speakers from academia, the judiciary, legal practice, and international organisations.

Building on this cooperation, ELI looks forward to contributing to the 2027 Congress and to further strengthening its ties with the World Jurist Association. The continued collaboration between the two organisations reflects a shared commitment to advancing the rule of law, judicial independence, and high-quality legal discourse at the international level.
