ELI participated in the United Nations Commission On International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Colloquium ‘Harmonizing law in the age of digital trade and finance – digital assets and platforms’, which brought together representatives of governments, international and regional organisations, academia, and the private sector to identify cross-cutting issues and support coherent future work by the Commission.
ELI President, Professor Dr Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell, contributed to several panels, including discussions on possible updates to the UNCITRAL Model Law on Secured Transactions, the enforcement of security rights and conflict-of-law issues in the digital environment, and the role and scope of digital platforms in international trade law.
ELI was also pleased to see further contributions from ELI Members Aneta Wiewiórowska-Domagalska, Christoph Busch and Christian Twigg-Flesner.
The Institute’s active involvement in multiple core sessions of the Colloquium reflects its established position as thought leader in the development and harmonisation of legal frameworks for the digital economy. For an overview of ELI Instruments in the field, see here.
