Following the first working meeting held in the Hague and remotely, this is the last meeting of the explanatory phase that considered a wide array of private-international-law issues raised by digital tokens. These include, not only questions of conflict of laws, but also jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement, and judicial cooperation, more broadly. Most revolve around proprietary rights or similar entitlements in digital tokens.
Prof Dr Matthias Lehmann of the ELI Council attended in person, contributing to discussions that confirmed the desirability of proceeding with the Digital Tokens project and therefore proceeding with submitting proposals for next steps to the Council on General Affairs and Policy ahead of its meeting in March 2025.
