Van Erp, Co-Reporter of the ELI’s recently launched project on Blockchain Technology and Smart Contracts, took part in the session on Artificial Intelligence and spoke about ‘The Internet of Things: Who is the Data Subject, What is the Data Object and to Whom Belong the Data?’.
Among other topics discussed during this two-day event were intellectual property, blockchains and ryptocurrencies, data protection and ownership as well as cybercrime and online misinformation. The seminar provided a forum of exchange between academics, lawyers, decision-makers and industry experts therefore facilitating a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities relating to the technological revolution.
The ELI is proud to be at the forefront of the research on the legal consequences of digitalisation with its projects on Principles for a Data Economy (with the American Law Institute, ALI), on Blockchain Technology and Smart Contracts and a prospective project on Access to Digital Assets.
