High Level Expert Group Meetings on Nudges as Enablers of Sustainable Living

On 7 December 2022 and 18 January 2023, ELI organised High Level Expert Group (HLEG) meetings on Nudges as Enablers of Sustainable Living: Identifying their Potential and Legal Challenges.

The meetings served an occasions to discuss nudges and their practical and ethical implications. Leading experts from academia and practice explored the topic and discussed the scope of a prospective ELI project in the field.

Marta Santos Silva (Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Minho) chaired the meetings.

The first meeting was attended by a diverse group of experts: Güneş Acar (Assistant Professor, Radboud University), Susanne Augenhofer (Professor, University of Innsbruck), Hendrik Bruns (Policy Analyst, European Commission), Annette Cerulli-Harms (ConPolicy – Institute for Consumer Policy), Bert George (Professor, City University of Hong Kong), Till Grüne-Yanoff (Professor, Royal Institute of Technology), Ralph Hertwig (Director of the Centre for Adaptive Rationality, Max Planck Institute), Antonios Karampatzos (Professor, University of Athens), Anne-Lise Sibony (Catholic University of Louvain), Cass R Sunstein (Professor, Harvard Law School), Avishalom Tor (Professor, University of Notre Dame).

The ELI President, Pascal Pichonnaz, and ELI Scientific Director, Christiane Wendehorst, also participated in the meeting, as did ELI Project Officer, Laura Papasodaro.

A second meeting was organised in which Susanne Augenhofer, Antonio Karampatzos, Anne-Lise Sibony, Avishalom Tor and Christiane Wendehorst attended.
