The session began with a film by Cyril Bruyelle, Founder of 20 Questions to the World, on Art and Law in Dialogues: Artistic and Legal Perspectives on the Rule of Law (view here). It was followed by a session chaired by ELI President Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell bringing together law students from universities across France and Europe.

Students from the European School of Law of Toulouse, University Bourgogne Franche-Comté, CY Cergy Paris University, Clermont Auvergne University, the Catholic University of Lyon, Paris Nanterre University, Côte d’Azur University and the University of Strasbourg presented selected works of art and reflected on how they could embody, illuminate or challenge understandings of law and the rule of law.

By placing artistic and legal perspectives alongside one another, the session gave concrete expression to the Conference’s theme of cultural engagement and legal resilience, opening the discussion beyond traditional legal institutions and forms of legal discourse.
