The ELI Succession Law Subgroup Held its Second Seminar in its 2022 Seminar Series

On Tuesday, 5 April 2022, the second in a series of webinars on ‘The Application of the EU Succession Regulation in the Member States’ organised by a Subgroup of the ELI Family and Succession Law SIG took place.

Panellists from Bulgaria (Boriana Musseva), Latvia (Jānis Grasis), Malta (Paul George Pisani), the Netherlands (Katja Zimmermann) and Spain (Guillermo Palao Moreno) shared information on the application of the EU Succession Regulation in their Member States, focusing on issues of jurisdiction, applicable law and the European Certificate of Succession. In particular, the focus was on the issue of translation and the verification of authenticity as well as the question of habitual residence and the distinction between issues of succession and property law. The webinar revealed interesting differences and similarities between Bulgaria, Latvia, Malta, The Netherlands and Spain in the application of the EU Succession Regulation.
