ELI President Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell represented the European Law Institute at the 9th International Conference on the Coordination of Secured Transactions Reforms: Scaling Access to Finance Through Law, Policy, Digitalisation and Investment, held at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.

As part of the programme, President Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell participated in Panel 3: Digital Assets: Institutional and Market Perspectives, where she joined representatives from international organisations, academia, and legal practice to discuss the evolving legal landscape surrounding digital assets and tokenisation.

During the discussion, participants explored the role of legal and institutional frameworks in facilitating innovation while ensuring legal certainty. The panel also examined ongoing international initiatives related to digital assets and the implications of emerging technologies for financial markets and secured transactions.

Organised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (ERBD), International Institute for the Unification of Private law (UNIDROIT), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNICITRAL), International Law Institute (ILI), the conference provided a valuable opportunity for ELI to contribute a European perspective to discussions on law reform and digitalization.
