ELI President Prof Dr Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell represented the European Law Institute at the 20th Conference of Chief Justices of Asia and the Pacific, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

In her presentation, the ELI President highlighted the Institute's global reach, noting that ELI's membership spans more than 64 countries and includes courts, judges, academics, practitioners, and international organisations.

She explored the interaction between ELI and the judiciary through membership, judicial training, and the development of standards for judicial systems.

The presentation focused on how ELI's soft-law instruments can support judicial interpretation in complex and rapidly evolving areas of law, contribute to judicial training, and provide guidance for the digitalisation of justice systems.

Particular attention was given to ELI's work on digital justice, artificial intelligence, automated decision-making, platform regulation, electronic evidence, and other emerging challenges facing modern legal systems.

The event served as an opportunity to represent the European legal community at this distinguished forum in Asia.
