ELI is pleased to announce that its President, Prof Dr Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell, delivered the Welcoming Address at the Second Online Conference on Fairness in Digital Markets and Artificial Intelligence, co‑organised by the Croatian Hub as part of the ‘ELI in the World’ series marking ELI’s 15th Anniversary.

The conference explored questions of fairness in digital markets and artificial intelligence, examining how AI systems interact with fundamental rights, consumer protection, data protection, online platforms, and enforcement mechanisms. Presentations addressed topics such as meaningful information in AI decision‑making, transparency in medical AI, digital sovereignty, the DMA’s rights‑centred approach, and the role of algorithms in civil justice.

ELI’s participation reflects its ongoing engagement with legal and regulatory challenges arising from digitalisation, AI, and the evolving digital economy.
