German law significantly influenced Polish legislation in the 20th century, and this impact continues today. While some German legal concepts have been successfully integrated into Polish private law, others have been adopted selectively and without thorough analysis, leading to misinterpretations known as 'False Friends' – transplants that distort the original meaning and values of the German legal principles.
The International Conference will bring together leading legal scholars to explore the challenges and advantages of legal transplants in private law, with a specific focus on the Polish-German context. The primary aim is to identify, analyse and distinguish genuine legal transplants from ‘false transplants’ within Polish private law influenced by German models.
Prior registration is required via E-Mail, addressed to the Hub’s Chair, Dr Elwira Macierzyńska-Franaszczyk (elwiramf@kozminski.edu.p) or through the conference’s website.
There is no conference fee.
