As a result of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, many Ukrainian scholars have been forced to leave their homes and seek refuge abroad. A significant number of legal academics now work across the EU, gaining valuable professional experience.
The Ukrainian Parliament has been working on reforming legal education for many years. On 20 February 2025, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy approved the Concept of the Draft Law of Ukraine on Higher Legal Education and Initial Access to the Legal Profession.
In light of this development, the roundtable aims to develop recommendations for the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on improving legal education in accordance with EU standards.
These recommendations are intended to enhance the quality of legal education and strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in areas related to international conflicts, human rights, and post-war reconstruction.
