Project Officer
Marta Lages de Almeida is a Project Officer at the ELI Secretariat. She holds a Master’s in International and European Law (NOVA School of Law), focused on Transitional Justice, and a Law degree from the University of Minho. She is also pursuing Postgraduate Studies in Humanitarian Missions, Disasters and Conflicts at the Red Cross Lisbon School. Marta has experience at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Division), the Permanent Representation to the OSCE in Vienna, and has interned with law firms, civil society orgnaisations and PwC. She contributed to the 2022 UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon and was a National Researcher for ELSA on Portugal’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights.
Lages de Almeida is responsible for the management of the following recently completed, on-going, and upcoming ELI projects: Admissibility of E-evidence in Criminal Proceedings in the EU, Corporate Criminal Liability in the European Union, ELI Principles and Guidance for Enforcement Against Digital Assets, Guiding Principles and Model Rules on Digital Assistants for Consumer Contracts, Recognition of Agreements Resulting from Mediation, ALI-ELI Principles for the Governance of Biometrics, Feedback on the Draft European Business Code of Henri Capitant Association, ELI Response on the Commission's Public Consultation on the Application of the Definition of an AI System in the AI Act: ELI Proposal for a Three-Factor Approach, Empowering European Families, GPAI Project on Cogenerated Data and AI and Data Protection.
