Project Officer

Marta Lages de Almeida is a Project Officer at the ELI Secretariat. She is currently finalizing her Master's dissertation in International and European Law at the NOVA School of Law, in addition to holding a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Minho.

Marta has interned at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon for the General Directorate of Foreign Policy – Directorate of Services for Security and Defense Affairs at the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Division, as well as at the Permanent Representation to the Organization for Security and Co-Operation (OSCE) in Vienna. Additionally, she has completed several internships in public and private entities, such as law firms and the Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV) and PricewaterhouseCoopers/MFAS (PwC). She also worked at the United Nations Ocean Conference held in Lisbon in 2022. Furthermore, she was a National Researcher for the Portuguese Legal Research Group by the European Law Students' Association (ELSA) on 'Recommendations for the Upcoming Portuguese National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights'.  

Lages de Almeida is responsible for the management of the following recently completed, on-going, and upcoming ELI projects: Admissibility of E-evidence in Criminal Proceedings in the EU, Corporate Criminal Liability in the European Union, Enforcement Against Digital Assets, Guiding Principles and Model Rules on Algorithmic Contracts, Recognition of Agreements Resulting from Mediation, Biometric Techniques, Feedback on the Draft European Business Code of Henri Capitant Association, GPAI Project on Cogenerated Data and AI and GDPR.
