1 June marks the founding of the European Law Institute (ELI). This year, ELI will celebrate its 14th anniversary as well as its third ELI Members' Day. The event is part of a series of forums established by ELI, in line with Article 3 of its Statute (on Aims), to facilitate discussion and collaboration. Taking place online, it provides an opportunity for ELI Members to connect outside the traditional Annual Conference held in the autumn.
The Webinar will explore the potential of quantum technologies to revolutionise industries and reshape societal norms, before consideration is turned towards critical and timely issues surrounding its governance and regulation. With 2025 designated as the United Nations Year of Quantum Science, this discussion will set the stage for proactive consideration of innovative legal frameworks to ensure responsible development, mitigate risks, and foster global collaboration in this rapidly advancing field.
Confirmed speakers:
- Pascal Pichonnaz (ELI President; Professor, University of Fribourg)
- Matthias C Kettemann (Professor of Innovation, Theory and Philosophy of Law; Head, Department of Theory and Future of Law, University of Innsbruck, Austria; Director, Innsbruck Quantum Ethics Lab; Quantum Ethics Rapporteur and ad personam member, UNESCO COMEST)
- Klaus Mølmer (Professor, Niels Bohr Institute)
