ELI Croatian Hub Held the 22nd Webinar in its Webinar Series

14.02.2023

On 14 February 2023, the ELI Croatian Hub held its 22nd webinar in a series of webinars organised to contribute to the discussion on current ELI projects and recent developments in Croatian, comparative and EU law. The webinar gathered 40 participants from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

The webinar opened with a welcome address from Dr Ivan Tot (ELI Croatian Hub Co-Chair; Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics and Business) and was followed by a lecture on ‘The Issue of Nullity of a Contract: The Last Resort or a Quick Fix?’, delivered by Dr Antun Bilić (Assistant Professor of Commercial and Company Law at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law).

In his lecture, Dr Bilić questioned whether nullity in Croatian private law has lost its function as a rare and ultima ratio legal institution. Dr Bilić provided several examples of provisions under the Obligations Act and Companies Act where the Croatian legislator inappropriately provided for nullity as a sanction for breach of legal rules and discussed the application of these provisions by Croatian courts.

The agenda of the webinar is available here.

The next ELI Croatian Hub webinar will be held on 14 March 2023.
