The webinar attracted over 50 participants, including legal practitioners like judges, lawyers, and public notaries, as well as academics and numerous law students.

It commenced with a warm welcome address from Mr Hrvoje Pauković (ELI Croatian Hub Co-Chair; Managing Director of the Croatian Insurance Bureau).

The lecture on ‘Artificial Intelligence and its Effects on Copyright’ delivered by Professor Ivana Kunda (University of Rijeka, Faculty of Law), covered the current AI technology landscape, emphasizing natural language processing tools like ChatGPT. She highlighted the EU's recent advancements in AI, notably the Artificial Intelligence Act, exploring potential conflicts with other legal acts like the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act. The second part delved into AI's role in authorship and copyright, citing case law from the EU and US that affirms AI cannot be considered an author under copyright law. A Q&A section followed.
