The webinar opened with a welcome address from Prof Başak Başoğlu (ELI Turkish Hub Co-Chair; Pîrî Reis University, Istanbul) and was followed by a detailed presentation of the ELI Report on Business and Human Rights: Access to Justice and Effective Remedies by Ms Ece Uyanık (Research Assistant at Kadir Has University, Istanbul) and Ms Meltem Ece Oba (Research Assistant at Koç University, Istanbul) who also translated the ELI Report to Turkish. Discussions were led by Prof Zeynep Derya Tarman (Koç University, Istanbul) and Dr Bora Kaya (ELI Turkish Hub Co-Chair; Ankara Bar Association). Dr Bora Kaya elaborated whether there are already effective remedies under Turkish Law and discussed the possibility of introducing the proposals of the ELI Report. Subsequently, Prof Derya Tarman focused on the applicable law provisions under Turkish Law and discussed whether there is a need to alter the current provisions.

The lectures were followed by a lively Q&A session during which participants discuss various problems including importance of the effective remedies for business-related human rights violations, both in private and public law.
