The webinar began with a welcoming speech by Prof Kadir Berk Kapancı (ELI Turkish Hub Co-Chair; MEF University, Istanbul), followed by an in-depth presentation of the ELI Report on Protection of Adults in International Situations by Mr Mustafa Furkan Yavuz (Research Assistant at Özyeğin University, Istanbul) who also translated the ELI Report into Turkish. Discussions were led by Prof Ceyda Süral Efeçınar (Pîrî Reis University, Istanbul) and Prof Başak Başoğlu (ELI Turkish Hub Co-Chair; Pîrî Reis University, Istanbul). First, Prof Ceyda Süral Efeçınar discussed the jurisdiction, applicable law, and recognition of decisions related to protecting adults under Turkish law. She also compared current developments with those under Turkish law. Subsequently, Prof Başak Başoğlu identified the main regulations for protecting vulnerable adults under Turkish law and explained the reasons and necessities for a reform in Turkish law.
